With "Bit More Grit" Audio Soul Project, a modern bedrock of Chicago’s underground house movement, delivers his latest EP of inspired deep trax, featuring a stunning remix by Detroit's Kris Wadsworth. Following-up his "High Off The People" EP for Fresh Meat, Mazi Namvar's ASP concept keeps the vibe thick and heavy on these brilliant and daring productions. Inspired by a self made recording of CNN from the unforgettable day James Brown died, the spiritual title track features vocals by Mazi and other rhythmic declamations set against a CS-80 organ, phasing vintage strings, and modulating pads. Kris Wadsworth, who has a remix in store for Steve Bug on Poker Flat and was recently named one of Beatportal’s top 10 artists to watch in 2009, turns in a unique slow burning pure techno remix of the organic original. Kris’s “Brain Change” remix showcases his unique sound, dialing back the tempo, extending the arrangement, and featuring his characteristically melodic yet eerily dissonant synth performances.

"Iambic", the second original tune, is a rolling builder featuring ever modulating Jupiter 8s, sweet Rhodes piano, hand percussion, and Mazi’s intricate drum programming. The last tune "Dancing on the Black Keys" takes inspiration from the Nice n’ Ripe records of yesteryear (and yes, this was a very popular label in Chicago in ’94) juiced up for modern times. Based on all sharps, this pure unassuming tune is driven by a warm and wonderful sine wave bass line and stirring synths, alongside a girl's sexy sighs and laughter.
